Why convert PNG to JPG?: File size. A photo saved as PNG can be five to ten times larger than the same photo as a JPG, with no visible difference. Converting helps when you hit an upload size limit, need faster page loads, or are sending photos by email.
What happens to transparency?: JPG doesn’t support transparency, so any transparent areas in your PNG are filled with white. If you need the transparency kept, stay with PNG or convert to WebP with our PNG to WebP converter instead.
How much quality do I lose?: Very little. The JPG is saved at high quality, which is visually indistinguishable from the original for photos. Graphics with hard edges and flat colors, like screenshots or logos, are the one case where JPG can show slight artifacts. Those are usually better left as PNG.
