Add text to photo FAQ

Is this text on photo tool free?
Yes, completely free. There is no account, no watermark, and no limit on how many images you make.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and your image never leaves your device.
Can I add more than one piece of text?
Yes. Click Add text for each new block, then click any block on the image to select and restyle it. Each one keeps its own font, size, color, and effects.
How do I make text readable over a busy photo?
Use the Outline or Shadow effect. Outline draws a contrasting edge around every letter, which holds up over detailed backgrounds. Shadow drops a soft glow behind the text, which is subtler and better over plain areas. The strength slider controls how heavy either one gets.
What fonts can I use?
Six: a clean sans, a serif, a handwritten script, a comic face, a casual face, and a heavy impact face. They are built into the page, so your download looks the same on every device. Bold and italic are available on the faces that ship those cuts, and switch off for the display faces that do not.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes, once a text block is selected. Delete or Backspace removes it, Cmd/Ctrl + D duplicates it, Cmd/Ctrl + Z undoes and Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Z redoes, arrow keys nudge it a few pixels (hold Shift for bigger steps), Tab moves between blocks, and Escape deselects. While the caret is in the text box, every key belongs to the text.
Can I control spacing between letters and lines?
Yes. Letter spacing widens or tightens the gaps between characters, which is useful for a spaced-out caption in caps. Line height sets the gap between wrapped lines. Both are sliders under the image.
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, SVG, and BMP. Downloads keep the original format for PNG, JPG, and WebP; everything else is saved as PNG (animated GIFs get a single frame).
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Drag a text block with one finger, pull the side handles to set where lines wrap, and type into the text box below the image.
