Image blur FAQ
- Is this image blur tool free?
- Yes, completely free. There is no account, no watermark, and no limit on how many images you blur.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything happens in your browser, and your image never leaves your device. That makes it safe for redacting private or sensitive images.
- Can I blur a face, a name, or a license plate?
- Yes. Switch to Selective, then brush or drag a box over each area you want to hide. The blur is baked into the pixels you download, so it cannot be reversed by inspecting the file. For redaction, a strong Pixelate is the safest choice.
- What is the difference between Gaussian and Pixelate?
- Gaussian is a smooth, soft blur that looks natural, good for backgrounds and focus effects. Pixelate replaces the area with large blocks, which reads clearly as hidden and is the better pick for redacting faces or text.
- What image formats are supported?
- PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, SVG, and BMP. Downloads keep the original format for PNG, JPG, and WebP; everything else is saved as PNG (animated GIFs are blurred as a single frame).
