HEIC to JPG FAQ
- What is a HEIC file?
- HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have used for photos since iOS 11. It stores the same photo at roughly half the file size of a JPG, which is great for your storage but not so great for compatibility. Plenty of apps, websites, and Windows PCs still can’t open one.
- Why convert HEIC to JPG?
- JPG opens everywhere: Windows, Android, older photo software, web upload forms, email clients, and every browser. Converting is the quickest fix when a site rejects your iPhone photo or someone can’t open the file you sent.
- Is this HEIC converter free?
- Yes, completely free. No account, no watermark, and no limit on how many photos you convert.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and your photos never leave your device. That also makes it fast, since there is nothing to upload or wait for.
- Will converting reduce my photo quality?
- Your photo keeps its full resolution, and the JPG is saved at high quality. Like any JPG save there is a small amount of compression, but you would need to zoom in a long way to spot it.
- Can I convert a whole batch at once?
- Yes. Select as many photos as you like, or drag them all in together. Each one shows up in a list with its own download button, plus a Download all button for the lot.
- Can I make my iPhone take JPG photos instead?
- Yes. Go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG from then on. Photos you already took stay HEIC, which is where this converter comes in.
- What if I want a lossless file instead?
- Use our HEIC to PNG converter. PNG is lossless, so nothing is recompressed, at the cost of a much larger file.
